Overcoming the misconception of unapproachability is a task we all must accept at times. Understanding that some people will never really be there to help you do that is a misfortune. Accepting who you are and how you can help others overcome their misconceptions is unavoidable. We all need to feel appreciated and respected. When a person does not communicate with another and allows emotion to get in the way of right action, then we must ask "what is the real issue, an issue of unapproachability or the refusal to approach and cooperate?"

I have worked to make myself as approachable as possible, and for most (if not all) of my 12 years in school administration, have accepted that sometimes there are those few who still want more. We all should do all we can in life to understand each other. This development of understanding is paramount for the greater good of any organization or family. If one person refuses to develop and work on building the relationship, than that relationship cannot develop and will not exist. Openness is not a very easy thing for many people. Finding who we are and working together for a common cause is sometimes very difficult. The truth, I believe, is to be found in the actions of those who are the willing participants in the solution to the problem.
